Lancôme

Lancôme is a French luxury beauty house founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean and Guillaume d'Ornano. Its name draws from the Forêt de Lancosme in central France's Brenne region. The brand launched at the 1935 Brussels World's Fair with five inaugural fragrances and added its first skincare product, the Nutrix cream, the following year.

L'Oréal acquired Lancôme in 1964 and placed the brand within its luxury division. The catalog has since expanded across fragrance, skincare, and color cosmetics, sold in over a hundred countries through department-store counters, dedicated boutiques, and prestige beauty retailers.

Among Lancôme's best-known fragrances, La Vie Est Belle has been a flagship release in the women's segment since its launch, with several flanker editions extending the line. Trésor remains a long-standing heritage pillar, alongside Idôle, Hypnose, La Nuit Trésor, and the Miracle line. The men's fragrance presence is smaller than the women's; the bulk of the line and shelf space at retail goes to women's perfumery and skincare.

The brand's headquarters remain in Paris under L'Oréal Luxe, with creative direction historically led from France even as production has scaled to multiple countries to serve the global market.
